IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Shamika Pratt-Jackson
NOV 10, 1981 - FEB 17, 2021
Shamika Pratt-Jackson, a loving mother of three, fell asleep in death on February 17, 2021, at the age of 39, while at home surrounded by family. She was affectionately known as Mika and was born in Cheverly, Maryland, on November 10, 1981. Mika married Ronald Jackson, Sr. and they bore three beautiful children.
After graduating from Frederick Douglass High School in Upper Marlboro, Maryland, Mika studied Business Administration at Bowie State University. Later, she graduated from Heritage Institute in Falls Church, Virginia, receiving her license in cosmetology.
Her driving ambition for success led Mika to become an award-winning Master Cosmetologist, a locally and internationally published stylist, and instructor, with many accolades to her name. However, her main love was her children and extended family. She had a very deep bond and attachment to her children. It meant the world to her whenever the family came together. Mika had a passion and thirst for life.
Throughout her childhood, Mika had a passion and fascination for hair, learning how to do her first braid at the mere age of three. She would improve upon her braiding skills by practicing on her brother, TJ, and cousin, Tiffany.
Shamika was dearly loved and highly esteemed by her many clients. According to Mika, she was a Hair Care Professional because her talents went far beyond styling. Her mission was healthy hair. With a laser eye for dry hair, it led her to create her first-ever haircare product, TerryGregorik Everything Oil, which helped resolve her clients' dry hair issues.
Always striving to be better, she was a go-getter. Anyone who knew Mika knew that you could not tell her what she couldn't do. Doing so made her more determined than ever to prove you wrong. She knew what she wanted and how she was going to get it. She loved motivating others to be the best version of themselves, which inspired her to reinvent her own brand, leading to the highly acclaimed TerryGregorik Wig Collection.
Her clients viewed her as a top-notch colorist and artist. Many of them have expressed how Mika was thoughtful and didn't mind sharing her techniques with them to care for their hair at home. She will be sorely missed by her loyal clients.
Left to cherish Shamika's memory are her children Naiyah, Ronald, Jr., and Reisen; Parents Terry and Chiquetta Garner; Siblings: Terry Garner, Jr. (Lakeejah); Renodo, Gregorik, Jr., Gigi, and Anthony Collington; Uncle and Aunt: Henry Pratt, III, and Robbin Pratt; Nephews: JaQuize and Renodo Jr.; Nieces: Kayla, Veda, and Athena; Special friend: Leatrice Wharton. A host of beloved family and friends. She was proceeded in death by Gregorik Collington.
Shamika’s family would like to extend their sincere thanks to her support team: TJ, Tiffany, Joseph, Ronald Sr., Sandra, Renee, Mercedes, Sarah S., Sarah M., Austria, and Chevon for your loving kindness and generosity.
